The brief was to design a book that expresses the narrative of the content of the 1918 Dada Manifesto by Tristan Tzara through defined typography and self generated imagery. The book format is 160mm (w) x 240mm (h) and its pages are French folded. I decided to use woodblock letterpress to express the theme of the book and create the illustrative typography.
Following the dadaist idea of having text coming from different directions I designed the book so it would be possible to start from any of the ends and the text follow its direction. When the two parts of text meet, the pointing fingers show the direction, suggesting that the reader turns the book around.
